Research Disclosures cover the technologies and inventions that patent examiners need to find
Submitting a disclosure article is very easy. Email your disclosure to us and we will publish it both online and in print. Typically your disclosure will be date stamped, online and searchable directly after we receive your confirmation. We will then also publish it in the next Research Disclosure journal.
It is refreshingly hassle free. You have complete control over the content; there is no scrutiny of the text by editors, examiners or referees and we accept disclosures in any language, with or without illustrations.
Most importantly our service is highly effective. Research Disclosure puts inventions in front of examiners in every patent office in the world, and secures them with a date stamp which can truly be relied upon for future litigation. No other disclosure service can match Research Disclosure in this area.
When you publish a disclosure you need it to be found by patent examiners. If they don't find your disclosure a patent may be granted on it and you would likely have to take the patent assignee to court to regain the right to use your own invention.
Research Disclosure is the only defensive publication service that patent offices are required to search by Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) statute. Patent offices have been receiving Research Disclosure for over 45 years so they fully appreciate its relevance and see it as a unique and highly valuable search resource. The USPTO takes 35 copies of the monthly journal as well as a database subscription, the EPO have paid for the Research Disclosure database to be incorporated into EPOQUE their core in-house database system.
Research Disclosure receives literally hundreds of times more citations than any other defensive publication service. A recent search of the USPTO's database alone revealed that Research Disclosure had been cited more than 15,000 times.
The paper Research Disclosure journal is publicly available from major libraries around the world. The online database is available through the researchdisclosure.com website and the major database hosts STN and Questel Orbit. Disclosures are also abstracted in the major Derwent World Patent Index (DWPI) and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) databases.
Patent Offices nominated and WIPO granted Research Disclosure Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) Minimum Documentation status. This requires all International Search Authorities (ISAs) to search Research Disclosure when examining patent applications.
No other disclosure service can boast this status and consequently cannot offer you the same assurance that their product will be examined.
Many of our disclosing inventors choose not to draw attention to the fact that they are working in a particular field so Research Disclosure allows disclosures to be published anonymously. Over our 45 years of service we are proud to have built up an unrivalled reputation for discretion and security.
Research Disclosure is a recognised publication, with proven legal precedent. It has been successfully cited in several high profile court cases around the world.
This is vitally important. When Research Disclosure is cited as evidence in patent litigation, unlike online or obscure publications its validity is not in question. This saves our customers costly litigation fees.
Other defensive publications systems which rely heavily on electronic fingerprinting and date stamping technology are risky. Here at Research Disclosure we offer state of the art electronic publication but always back it up with full paper publication at no extra cost. We strongly believe that customers should not be used as guinea pigs to test other disclosure services which have yet to establish a global legal precedent.
The Research Disclosure service is very economical. We charge a one off modest fee which covers full paper and electronic publication. There are no setup costs and no hidden charges. We pride ourselves on being the most cost effective defensive publication service available. With the ever increasing patents fees throughout the world, Research Disclosure is an affordable, easy and highly valuable alternative or, in some cases, addition to patenting.
Research Disclosure is the world's longest running disclosure service. We started publishing disclosures in 1960 and have remained the industry standard for over 45 years. Why? Companies that publish with us know that they can rely on their disclosures being found by the patent authorities and they know they can rely on our publication date in any litigation.
Other disclosure services have started up against us but none as yet has lasted more than a few years. In the main our competitors have failed because patent examiners were not aware of them and did not, or could not, find their products to search on. Needless to say those that have failed are no longer, searched by patent examiners.
